Hétérotopies
Les espaces créés par Isabelle Courtois Lacoste s’apparentent à des hétérotopies, espaces concrets qui hébergent l’imaginaire. Ces mondes intérieurs sont nourris de souvenirs, de mémoire d’enfance et d’imaginaire, entre apparition et disparition, sorte de déambulations mentales qui accumulent les fragments de ces divagations.
L’expérimentation et la recherche liée à la nature des médiums utilisés (liquidité de l’encre, de la peinture, transparence du carton) révèlent l’absence et le vide. Les éléments convoqués s’ordonnent ou s’associent pour proposer une nouvelle réalité constituée d’une iconographie utopique et fantasmée qui portent la trace d’une histoire passée ou possible.
Non attachée à une pratique artistique unique, sa pensée s’exprime par différents médiums : peinture, estampe, collages, volume, installation.
Heterotopias
The spaces created by Isabelle Courtois Lacoste resemble heterotopias—concrete spaces that harbor the imagination. These inner worlds are nourished by memories, childhood recollections, and the imagination, hovering between appearance and disappearance—a sort of mental wandering that accumulates fragments of these ramblings.
Experimentation and research into the nature of the media used—the fluidity of ink and paint, the transparency of cardboard—reveal absence and emptiness. The elements brought together are arranged or combined to propose a new reality composed of utopian and fantastical imagery that bears the traces of a past or possible history.
Not tied to a single artistic practice, her thinking is expressed through various mediums: painting, printmaking, collages, sculpture, and installation.
